Dominican Republic has become a paradise for lovers, or even those who simply know or enjoy, cigars. And no wonder, because the snuff has been part of the history of the country long before the arrival of the Spanish in 1492, and the Indians used the snuff in their social, religious and ceremonial activities. The word “Snuff” comes from the Taina culture, Indians who lived on the island Quisqueya, what is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic exports more than 90% of black snuff that produces both raw and manufactured in pure, with worldwide prestige. The province of Santiago is a leader in the domestic production of snuff and contributes 80% of exports of this product, occupying the Northwest second.

For those who are not experts, it might be very appealing to learn about the process of how the Dominican cigars are made. At León Cultural Center in Santiago and center of cigar production in the country, it is a replica of an open to the public and which maintains a permanent exhibition of hand crafted process cigar factory. Tabacalera de Garcia, in the city of La Romana, factory made cigars in the world and producers of large Montecristo, H. Upmann, Romeo and Juliet Santa Damiana, Don Diego, among other brands bigger hand. Experts offer guided tours Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tabadom Holding is another Dominican big tobacco, established in Santiago and is what makes the Davidoff, Zino, Avo and Griffin’s famous among other brands.
